في عام 2013 أذاعت محطة ديسكفري الأمريكية بثا مباشرا تناول تجربة حقيقة تم اختبار فيها إمكان اشتعال مضخة الوقود إذا تم استخدام الهاتف بجوارها، وبدأت التجربة بالفعل بعدة اختبارات حيث وضعوا الهاتف بجوار خزان الوقود واستخدموه بعدة أشكال إما للاتصال أو استقبال المكالمات، وكانت النتيجة أنه لم يحدث أي اشتعال على الإطلاق إلا عندما تم استقبال مكالمة؛ حيث اشتعل بخار الوقود الصاعد من خزان السيارة، على الرغم من عدم اشتعاله عند التحدث أو خلال المكالمة أو استخدام الهاتف عمومًا.
وكان التفسير النهائي هو أن بخار الوقود يشتعل بسهولة عكس الوقود السائل كما تزيد إشعاعات الهواتف المحمولة بشكل أكبر عند استقبال اتصال هاتفي.
ملحوظة: إذا كان هناك هاتف محمول قيد التشغيل في السيارة فلا تتزود بالوقود والباب مفتوح لأن بخار البنزين سيدخل إلى السيارة وستكون النتيجة غالبا مثل ما تم عرضه في الفيديو،
فبخار البنزين شديد الاشتعال ويكفي شرارة صغيرة من الهاتف المحمول لتحدث كارثة لا قدر الله .
فهم خطورة استخدام الهاتف الخليوي أثناء ضخ الغاز
- في الأساس ، الهاتف الخليوي عبارة عن جهاز يتكون من عدد لا يحصى من المكونات الكهربائية المسؤولة عن التواصل مع أبراج الشبكة.
- على الرغم من عدم وجود أسلاك بينهما ، إلا أن هناك اتصالا ثنائي الاتجاه يحدث من خلال الموجات الكهرومغناطيسية.
